The secluded location of The Cary Arms makes it difficult to believe that you are in Torquay, or even the UK! The surroundings are stunning, elegant and indulgent and give the impression of being on the French or Italian Riviera. A real feeling of escapism and relaxation floods over you the minute you arrive – it’s almost like being on a private island!

In the words of Queen Victoria, “It’s a beautiful spot…red cliffs and rocks with wooded hills like Italy and reminding one of a ballet or play where nymphs appear – such rocks and grottoes, with the deepest sea on which there was no ripple.”

The peaceful terrace sits enticingly above the water, and the beaches of Babbacombe and Oddicombe stand out as the focal point for the stunning panoramic view. Relaxing with a drink and good company is made easy; as is everything else at The Cary Arms. Any stresses bought with you are quickly swept away with the tide as the warm welcome from the staff envelopes you and carries you to a peaceful, relaxing haven.

The Inn on the Beach, part of the Cary Arms, enjoys a nautical theme with a relaxing and informal bar area with beamed ceilings, original stone walls, planked floors, books and board games a plenty. It’s a place where you can enjoy the very best of seaside gastro-pub food and real ales alongside stunning sea views. Just imagine lazy brunches, lunches, drinks and suppers at the captain’s table perched over the sea or, for something more intimate, the secluded all weather orb.

There’s plenty to entice you away from the luxury and relaxation of your cottage whether young, old or young at heart; from walks along the dramatic coastal path to diving, kayaking and fishing or even discovering the history and heritage of Torquay and the Cary family, there really is something for everyone.

For anyone who simply wants to relax, The Spa Room at the Cary Arms offers guests the chance for total relaxation and indulgence. Temple Spa products, available only in Harrods and Selfridges are used, providing a super abundance of pure botanicals & extracts inspired by healthy Mediterranean nutrition. Why not treat yourself to a deep tissue massage, a facial or perhaps a manicure. All bookings receive a ½ hour complementary treatment plus 20% off any further treatments.

The cottages have all been designed and finished to an exceptionally high standard and exude a feeling of well being and relaxation; absolute comfort and contemporary seaside chic.
